Hyderabad: Leading automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India unveiled special editions of Alto K10 and Alto800 commemorating the upcoming biopic on India’s limited overs cricket captain M.S. Dhoni here on Saturday.

The special edition cars, which would be available for three months, would sport special decals and seat design that would have Dhoni’s name and the number seven embossed on it.

The consumers would have to pay an additional Rs 12,000 to Rs 16,000 depending upon the model they choose. Mr Dhoni, who was in the city to promote the biopic, unveiled the special edition of Alto800 and Alto K10.

Speaking after the event, MSI executive director (marketing and sales) R.S. Kalsi confirmed the company's plan to launch two new models — Ignis and Baleno RS — in the fourth quarter of this financial year.

“We plan to launch two more new models this year. Both would come in quarter 4 of this year — one would be Ingnis and the other would be Baleno RS,” he said.
Mr Kalsi added that MSI also plans to launch another 13 models by 2020 but stopped short of providing the figures for new models. “We would like to launch 15 new models and variants by 2020,” he said.

Mr Kalsi added that the company’s productions have risen by around 25 per cent and the Suzuki Motors plant in Gujarat, which is due to start production in Q4, should help reduce the 30-week waiting period for Baleno.
