K Chandrasekhar Rao tells ministers to stay alert

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has cancelled a Cabinet meeting scheduled on Monday in the wake of heavy rains and huge inflows into irrigation projects.

Mr Rao reviewed the situation with chief secretary Rajiv Sharma and senior officials at his camp office on Sunday. He directed ministers and officials in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam districts to remain on high alert and monitor rescue operations in case of flooding. He asked them to stay in their respecitve districts till the rains recede and give top priority to prevent the loss of lives due to floods.

He directed the chief secretary Sharma and DGP Anurag Sharma to be in touch with collectors and SPs and give instructions on relief and rescue operations if required.

The Chief Minister directed police to caution visitors thronging the projects to watch the release of water from dams against taking risks.
