Lofty hotel penthouses overlook vibrant Xintiandi

ANDAZ Xintiandi, Shanghai just unveiled a selection of top-floor penthouses with stunning views inspired by architectural features of the Andaz brand and local cultural elements.

Famous Japanese interior design firm Tofu Inc. recreated the space in designing the penthouses that are artistic and contemporary and retain the features of the hotel’s original penthouses.

The three penthouse suites were restyled to reflect a theme of “home” in sophisticated modern spaces. Warmth of natural materials, the distinctive Andaz décor style, and a spectacular view over the Xintiandi shopping and entertainment complex and the bustling Huaihai Road all add to the appeal of the penthouses.

Unlike other hotel penthouses that aim to impress with size and grandeur, Andaz puts a focus on local style and artistry innate to its brand. Handcrafted walnut and rosewood furniture made by craftsmen in Hokkaido is placed prominently in carefully selected space and in contrast with stones from China and wallpaper made from Himalayan tree bark.

The Sky Garden Penthouse is the largest of the suites with a traditional tea room on the first floor adorned with contemporary pieces, a dazzling array of thousands of color pencils leads visitors upstairs to a spacious bedroom decorated with silk tapestries made by the acclaimed Japanese artist Ai Teramoto.

The Spa Penthouse is highlighted by a night scene of Shanghai in the bedroom that showcases the pearl of East Asia in all its dynamic glory and opulence. Crafted by Japanese-Chinese artist Yukino Ohmura, this piece is “breathtakingly magnificent” and makes the guests feel they are gazing at the city from the quiet comfort of their hotel room. There is a spa bed in this suite that allows the guests to enjoy exclusive spa treatments.

The Sky-view Penthouse features a large entertainment area with a five-meter-high ceiling, a wine bottle display on the wall and a state-of-the-art karaoke system.
