In the past, the police have launched several such operations to curb eve-teasing. On August 26, the police had arrested 46 people from the same location. Around 20 cops, dressed as civilians, undertook the operation from 10 pm onwards. An official said that the MG Road area witnessed heavy footfall, especially during weekends, as a number of clubs, pubs, cinema halls and other facilities were situated there. It was observed that anti-social elements often loitered in the area and indulged in eve-teasing or harassment of women.

In December last year, the Gurgaon Police arrested 75 molesters in three hours from outside malls and bus stands. Gurgaon ACP Dharna Yadav said that they employed the old method of putting women police officers in plain clothes in front of the malls in Gurgaon and eventually the molesters fell into the trap and passed lewd remarks at them. “Most of the molesters, who were arrested, were found drunk,” she said.

Festive offer

The Gurgaon Police had earlier arrested more than hundred molesters in their drive conducted on September 26, 2015 and October 10, 2015.
