“On a tip-off about the supply of illegal weapons in the district, additional superintendent of police Jaiveer Singh arrested Govind Yadav alias Gabbar from the Sengwa bus stand in Datia,” superintendent of police Irshad Wali told HT. “This is a very important development. Yadav could be an important link to burst the gang which supplies weapons in the region. We came to know that illegal weapons are being used in many criminal activities.”

Yadav told his interrogators that illegal weapons were brought from Sikligars (blacksmiths renowned for their weapon making craft) of Khargone and Khandwa. The brass pistols - supplied from Aligarh of Uttar Pradesh - are being sold in Gwalior, Chambal region, Jhansi, Etawa, Agra and Orai, police said.
