Aizawl: The chief justice of Gauhati high court, Ajit Singh, urged Mizoram CM Lal Thanhawla to take stern action against locals of Lunglei district who attacked court buildings and the residence of a judge and threatened judicial officers on Thursday.
In a letter written on Friday, Singh asked the CM to punish the miscreants "so that the faith and respect of the people remain intact." "I also expect that the damaged courts, offices and residential buildings are repaired promptly and adequate security is provided to all," he added.

They broke the windows of the court buildings, prompting police to lathicharge. A few civilians were injured and around 30 people were detained.
