IED found in Gumla village

Security forces on Saturday found 1.5kg integrated explosive device (IED), planted by the Maoists at Kumari village under Bishunpur police station - 81 km from the district, during an operation on Friday.

GUMLA: Security forces on Saturday found 1.5kg integrated explosive device (IED), planted by the Maoists at Kumari village under Bishunpur police station - 81 km from the district, during an operation on Friday.
Sources say, some 25-30 Maoists led by their leaders Nakul Yadav and Bhushan Yadav had assembled in the forest. The security forces have also found some packets of medicines and other articles.
The security forces launched the operation to corner Maoists as the rebels have recently stepped up their activities, said an officer.
The rebels have killed a panchayat ward member of Katiya panchayat Karma Oraon after beating him up in a kangaroo court recently at Kaththokwa village. They also forced their family members to carry out his cremation in their presence.DIG AK Dhan had led an operation against the Maoists soon after the incident after whichthe rebels had fled.
The security forces comprising the district police and the CRPF personnel found an IED which was ready for use, said CRPF deputy commandant Vishal Singh. The operation which was started from Friday is still continuing, Singh added.
