ISLAMABAD: Mandwa Film Club will screen Turkish drama film “Winter Sleep” on September 24 (Saturday) in Media Centre of Lok Virsa for movie lovers. Winter Sleep is a 2014 Turkish drama film directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, adapted from the short story, “The Wife”, by Anton Chekhov. The story is set in Anatolia and examines the significant divide between the rich and poor as well as the powerful and powerless in Turkey. At the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, the film won the Palme d’Or and the FIPRESCI Prize. The film was selected as Turkish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at 87th Academy Awards. The film is directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, written by Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Ebru Ceylan and starring Haluk Bilginer, Melisa Sozen and Demet Akbag. Qurban Niazi’s concert on Sep 30: Mausikaar Welfare Trust in collaboration with Lok Virsa would arrange a concert featuring a renowned Folk Singer, Qurban Ali Niazi at the media center of Lok Virsa on September 30. Qurban Ali Niazi started his career at the tender age of 10 and made his debut by singing in the Urs (festival) of Shah Shams Tabrez in Multan. His association with Radio and Television is four decades old and as a member of Pakistan Cultural Troupe he has performed in several countries.
