In Kapilvastu, two women were swept away by the Banganga river near Madhuwan settlement on Friday evening. Police identified the victims as Lila BC and Bhima Aryal of Banganga Municipality. They were trying to cross the flooded river. Their bodies were found some 500 metres downstream, said police.
In Morang, a man believed to be in his mid-thirties was found dead in the Singiya stream at Bhatigachha-2 on Saturday. The body was taken to Koshi Zonal Hospital for postmortem.
A Nepali national, Ramesh Kumar Khanal, of Dodhara Chandani-5 was found dead in the Jogbudha river in Pilvit district of India on Friday. The victim had been missing for the past few days. Police suspected that Khanal, an epileptic patient, might have been swept away by the river.
Similarly, 12-year-old Sudip Thakur, a permanent resident of India, is feared dead after being swept away by the Narayani river on Friday. The incident happened while he was swimming in the flooded river. A team of security personnel is searching for the body but returned without success on Saturday evening, said police.
