MYSURU: The Dasara
film festival subcommittee is taking the much sought-after event to taluk level by screening award-winning films at taluk headquarters. The film festival will be launched on October 1 by chief minister
Siddaramaiah at Kalamandir.
The films will be screened at theatres in taluks headquarters of Nanjangud, HD Kote, T Narsipur, Periyapatna, Hunsur and KR Nagar from October 2.
In the city, the films will be screened at three theatres and two multiplexes.
The panel stated that award-winning films and some popular Kannada movies will be screened during the eight-day festival.
As the theme of this year's Dasara is water conservation, the panel has decided to screen a documentary produced by films division of the union ministry of information and broadcasting at the inaugural session.
The films to be screened at the festival include Kenda Sampige, Mr and Mrs Ramachari, Ranna, Istakamya, Babruvahana, Apoorva, Vaastu Prakara, Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, Kiragurina Gayyaligalu, Godi Banna Sadarana Maikattu, U Turn, First Rank Raju, Thithi, Rangitaranga, Nanu Avanalla Avalu and Chakravuha.
A few critically acclaimed foreign films will be screened at
Senate Bhavan and at
Rani Bahadur auditorium in Manasagangotri.
