DC will issue notice to Darshan and ex-minister

BENGALURU: The district administration will issue a notice to sandalwood actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, former minister Shamanur Shivashankarappa and others on Monday, Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner V Shankar said on Saturday. Their properties have allegedly encroached upon the storm water drain (SWD) and other government land in Ideal Homes Layout, Raja Rajeshwari Nagar.
The DC's statement comes in the wake of the recent survey report prepared by the joint director of land records, which confirmed that 63 properties are sitting on drains or other public spaces.
BBMP commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad submitted the survey report to the DC stating he has to initiate action as per an earlier high court directive. The report has identified encroachments on public land that spans more than seven acres in Ideal Homes Layout.
Sources in the BBMP said the encroachment clearance drive in other zones will also gain pace from Monday.
