NIA concerned about ‘time’

The National Investigation Agency that is probing the terror attack in Uri is said to be concerned about the time of the attack. Officials from the NIA have said that the infiltration bid was made during the intra-battalion transfer of sentries at the LoC and whether this was planned or a coincidence is a matter that needs to be addressed. “During the battalion transfer, there is mixed sentry deployment to help the incoming battalion familiarize with the area and nature of duties,” a source said.

Sources in the NIA have said they are banking on technical support from the National Technical Research Organisation that is working on retrieving data from a damaged GPS instrument recovered from the attack site. The NTRO is reportedly attempting to track the route taken by the terrorists for crossing over the Line of Control. The tech team will also attempt to identify the launch pad of the attackers to confirm the terrorist organisation they belonged to. NIA officials also said that recovery of objects like medicines, packets of food, etc., bore markings of Pakistani manufacturers, thus linking the perpetrators to the neighbouring country.

POK nationals nabbed

Security forces arrested two Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir nationals who have reportedly been working for Jaish-e-Mohammed. As per reports, the duo worked as guides for terror groups attempting to infiltrate the country along the LoC in Uri. The duo — Ahasan Kursheed of Khaliana Kalan and Faisal Hussain Awan of Pottha Jahangir — were apprehended on Wednesday.
