The Gujarati families settled here had every reason to be cheerful over the arrival of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani as he openly applauded their efforts to flourish in a distant land preserving all the cultural heritage and tradition of the homeland.

Mr. Rupani, who was accorded a warm welcome by the Gujarati Samaj at the Gujarati Hall, straight away came to the function from the Karipur airport.

It was reportedly for the first time that a Gujarat Chief Minister directly addressing the community members settled in Kozhikode and interacting with them.

'Gujarat a model to other States'

“Gujarat, your motherland, is now a model to the rest of the States in administrative transparency and efficient governance suppressing red-tapism and corruption. Farmers are the happiest lot for the support they get to generate more income,” Mr. Rupani said.

The Chief Minister, who arrived in the city to attend the Bharatiya Janata Party’s national council, also posed for photographs with them.
