Amritsar, September 24

A minor issue of parking of a vehicle between two neighbours turned ugly when two groups had a clash and one of the groups allegedly fired at the other in the New Kot Atma Ram area here last evening. They also indulged in stone pelting, thereby leading to panic in the locality.

One person was injured in the clash. He sustained sharp-edged weapon injuries in the incident. The police have registered a cross case in this connection and launched further investigations. No arrest has been made so far.

According to the police, Mandeep Singh, a resident of the area, used to work as a DJ player. He used to park his vehicle outside his home. However, his neighbours used to object to this. He said yesterday, a verbal duel between him and a group of persons turned ugly. Mandeep stated to the police that he was attacked by the opposite group who chased him to his home and thrashed him. He also retaliated in self- defence. In the meanwhile, his cousin also reached there and fired in the air to save him, he told the police.

Senior police officials, including Assistant Commissioner of Police, PS Virk, also reached the spot. A police official said a cross case had been registered in the clash and further investigations were under progress. — TNS
