Police arrest suspects after video of beating shared online

AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department  (CID) and Madaba police on Saturday arrested three people who beat a man, filmed him and posted the video on social media, according to a statement from the Public Security Department (PSD).

The CID and Madaba police investigated a video shared on social media, showing three people assaulting and humiliating a man in Madaba.

An investigative team in Madaba verified the footage and was able to identify the assailants within hours, the PSD said. 

Police also identified and summoned the victim, who then filed a complaint against the suspects. 

The three suspects confessed to taking the victim to a house in Madaba where they filmed themselves beating him over a previous disagreement. 

One of the suspects was also wanted for shooting at a polling station in Madaba, 30km southwest of Amman, on election day, the PSD added.
