Midfielder Vicente Iborra had to go in goal after goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu was sent off for violent conduct as Sevilla lost to Athletic Bilbao.
Sevilla had made all three substitutes and trailed 2-1 when Sirigu was dismissed in the 88th minute.
Iborra, could not stop Aritz Aduriz's penalty.
On-loan Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri cancelled out Mikel San Jose's opener for Bilbao before Mikel Balenziaga made it 2-1.
Italian keeper Sirigu was shown a straight red card after elbowing Aduriz in the back.
Bilbao's win lifted them up to third in La Liga, while Sevilla dropped to fourth.
