CHENNAI: A residents' association has started a signature campaign to secure support for a makeover of Kodambakkam railway station.
Patrons of Zacria Colony Residents' Welfare Association, Choolaimedu have been handing out pamphlets seeking support of a one-week long signature campaign that will run till October 2.
"The southern side of the station has a foot over-bridge but it is missing at the northern side which is accessed by people from Trustpuram, Vadapalani, Saligramam, Porur and Meenakshi College," said S Kasturi Rangan, chief coordinator of the welfare association.
Besides round the clock surveillance, the association is demanding a wider roof to shield commuters from sun and rain, more fans and water coolers. "The subway at the southern end is steep and leaves the senior folk hassled. We want the authorities to look into it," said Rangan.
