Tech issues a hurdle for CBSE sports registration

Tech issues a hurdle for CBSE sports registration
Nagpur: Till last month many CBSE schools in city were facing technical issues in registering online for the crucial sports meet to start in last week of October. While problems of almost all schools have been sorted out with the help of CBSE’s technical team, a city school known for its sporting exploits has still not been able to complete the registration. CBSE has made it mandatory for every participating student to be registered in its database following which a Unique Identity Number (UID) is issued.
This process has to be completed by the school on behalf of students.
For this particular school, the problem continues despite getting in touch with CBSE through e-mails almost six times since August. A staff member said, “We have been trying whatever the CBSE’s tech team suggested but nothing has worked so far.”
With the meet scheduled to start in October, the school is hoping things would fall in place. Even last year, a popular national level franchisee school in city was unable to register its students online. The school was ultimately allowed to contest in the CBSE sports meet with offline registration process.
UID is not ‘game-specific’ but a generic one that allows the student to participate in every competition organized by the board across the country. The schools will print the UID card that will have the student’s photograph and attest it with principal’s signature. UID will also be a permanent one and won’t change even if the student shifts to a new school. It would remain with the student till s/he moves out of the CBSE system.
The other thing being done is registration of host schools. To encourage schools for hosting games there is a provision to “recognize and felicitate all such principals and organizing secretaries”. The felicitation promise by board is clearly an incentive to encourage schools for hosting the games.
NOT SPORTIVE ENOUGH
Why is it mandatory to students register for sports meet?
CBSE’s unique online registration system helps authenticate and track students through the CBSE system. Even if a student changes schools, which is the case with defence personnel, their information and records are always available in database
What is a UID?
The Unique Identification Number (UID) is assigned to CBSE student after the school enters details in board’s database. UID is permanent and will continue till the student moves out of the CBSE system
