Madras univ to ask colleges to follow policy on reservation

CHENNAI: The University of Madras, during its academic council meeting on Saturday, decided to issue a circular to affiliated private arts and science colleges instructing them to provide admissions adhering to the government's reservation policy for minorities. This was in light of few council members stating that some colleges affiliated to the varsity do not display list of students belonging to different communities like SC/ST, MBC, BC on their website or campus notice boards.
Head of the Madras University Psychology department, S Karunanidhi, who was the chairman of the academic council meeting, said that the circular would soon be issued by the varsity directing them to follow the policy. Another issue raised during the meeting was that of the varsity failing to nominate its representative in the governing body of some private colleges, due to which some members alleged that faculty appointments in those colleges are getting delayed.
