Patna: The tiny tots of Montessori House of Children of Notre Dame Academy (NDA) mesmerized parents and guests with their well-coordinated performances at a concert on the school campus on Saturday evening.
The theme of the event was 'The melody of life' which depicted the happiness parents felt at different stages of their children's lives. The Damians, dressed in colourful attires, put up a variety of acts, including a prayer dance, 'God's creation, our celebration', 'Learning is fun', 'Unique gift of God' and the grand finale.
While IPS officer Naveen Chandra Jha, commandant-BMP 10, was the chief guest, former NDA principal Sr Beena was the guest of honour. Jha lauded the efforts of the students and the teachers in putting up a variety of programmes. Montessori headmistress Sr Namrata proposed a vote of thanks.
Scholarship: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited online application from college and university students for this year's Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships (CSSS) and the renewal of 2015 scholarships. The applications are available on national e-scholarship portal http://www.scholarships.gov.in/login.do and the last date for submission is September 30, said a press note issued by the Board on Saturday. The CBSE has also asked students, who are availing the scholarship or wish to apply for the same, to obtain an 'Aadhaar' number seeded with their bank account for uninterrupted disbursal of the scholarship directly in their bank account.
Workshop: At least 100 teachers of St Dominic Savio's High School took part in a workshop on 'Effective teaching methodologies and classroom strategies' to learn latest teaching pedagogy, on the school campus on Saturday. Resource person Maryann Vaisoha told teachers about latest techniques in class management and also answered their questions during the interactive session.
Solo-dance contest: Students of Holy Mission School shook their legs on popular Bollywood and classical numbers at a solo dance contest on the school campus on Saturday. Those who excelled at the event were Jhanvi, Mahika, Karan, Taufik, Atulit, Roshni, Smriti, Chhaya, Ankita and Harsh. The school administrators congratulated the participants on their performances and encouraged them to perform better.

Madhuricha wins speech contest: Madhuricha Srivastava of Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, Prasoon Kumar of Patna Science College and Nandan Kumar of Patna Training College were awarded first, second and third respectively in a speech contest organized by the NSS unit of Patna University (PU) at Wheeler Senate House on the occasion of NSS Day on Saturday. The topic of the contest was 'Contributions of youth in national development'.
Speaking as the chief guest, Bihar Unicef chief Yameen Mazumder said the youth can give a new direction to the society by fighting illiteracy and malnutrition and making people aware about cleanliness and healthcare.
PU vice-chancellor Y C Simhadri lauded the services rendered by the NSS volunteers during recent floods.
PU NSS programme coordinator Atul Aditya Pandey said more than 300 NSS volunteers from different units of PU and all the NSS coordinators participated in the function.
