FIR against Vaishali official for amassing assets worth Rs 1.44 crore

The vigilance sleuths on Saturday conducted raids on the office and residential premises of Vaishali district welfare officer Anand Kumar and unearthed assets worth Rs 1.44 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income by misusing his official position. An FIR has been lodged in this connection.

Patna: The vigilance sleuths on Saturday conducted raids on the office and residential premises of Vaishali district welfare officer Anand Kumar and unearthed assets worth Rs 1.44 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income by misusing his official position. An FIR has been lodged in this connection.
Four vigilance teams conducted raids at Hajipur in Vaishali, Jagdeo Path and Kidwaipuri in Patna and Kumar's native village at Udwantnagar in Bhojpur district and found a three-storey house worth Rs 30 lakh on Jagdeo Path and a Rs 27 lakh flat in Kidwaipuri.

Among the other properties owned by Kumar and his wife are nine plots in Dhanaut and Punpun area of Patna district while he own three plots in Ara.
The vigilance team also searched his house at Gokulnagar, Lohiapath, Patna and his office in Vaishali district and found silver and gold jewellery worth Rs 1.50 lakh and documents of one flat each in Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar and Greater Noida areas.
Vigilance DSP Mohammad Zamiruddin, who led the raid in Patna, said, "We have recovered agreement papers indicating that Kumar owns one flat in Mukharjee Nagar in Delhi while another in Greater Noida."
He said both the flats were registered in Kumar's name.
The vigilance sleuths also seized passbooks and cheque books of several banks from his Jagdeo Path residence. "Nothing was recovered from Kumar's office at Hajipur," the DSP added.

He said Kumar's family members reside in the Jagdeo Path residence and they would be investigated about the ownership of the property in Jagdeo Path and Kidwaipuri areas.
"Kumar did not reach his office at Hajipur on Saturday," said the DSP adding that he would be later called for interrogation.
The DSP said after lodging an FIR against Kumar on Friday, they moved special vigilance court to seek search warrant which was issued immediately following which the raids were conducted on Saturday.
