UP govt alerts districts on coming festivals

Lucknow, Sep 24 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today directed the district officials to remain alert during the upcoming festivals, giving stress on Dusherra and Moharram.
State Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar issued directions to all Divisional Commissioners, Police Inspector Generals and Deputy Inspector Generals, District Magistrates, Police Superintendents that peace committees’ meetings should be held at local level to ensure peace and communal harmony during the festivals of Navratra, Durga Puja, Dusherra, Deepawali and Moharram.
He said that District Magistrates and Police Superintendents will have to resolve probable problems by meeting every police station house officer and police personnel under them along with organizing meetings of peace committees during the next week. He said that concerned senior officials in districts will be held responsible for any untoward incident during the coming festivals.

Pune, April 25 (UNI) Day temperatures were markedly above normal(5.1°C or more) at many places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; at isolated places over Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and Assam and Meghalaya; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Jharkhand; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe; at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana. These were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places over Vidarbha and east Madhya Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 43.7°C was reported at Anantapur
(Rayalaseema) over the country.
