Distressed cadre look to God

: Following the hospitalisation of Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalitha in Chennai, thousands of party functionaries offered special prayers in temples across the State on Friday her speedy recovery.

In Chennai, former Minister Thalavai Sundaram and former MLA V.P. Kalairajan offered special poojas at Vadapalani Murugan temple. In Salem, Mayor S. Soundappan along with cadres offered prayers at Sri Rajaganapathi temple. In Namakkal, Municipal chairman R. Karikalan prayed at Anjaneyar temple, and at Tiruchengodu, MLA Pon Saraswathi offered prayers at Sri Arthanareeswarar temple. Ms. Jayalalithaa’s horoscope was placed before the deity and special poojas were performed.

In Tiruchi, a special yagam was performed at the Sri Bhairavanathaswamy temple by the Amma Peravai functionaries. Special poojas were performed at Sri Durgaiamman temple, Rockfort Sri Manicka Vinayagar temple and at Sri Vekkaliamman temple in the city.

A group of cadre ate from the floor (‘man soru’) at the Sri Vazhividu Velmurugan Temple near the Tiruchi Railway Junction. Special poojas were also performed at Sri Durgaiamman temple at Patteswaram near Kumbakonam, Sri Bhagavath Vinayakar temple in Kumbakonam and at Sri Anjaneyar temple at Thanjavur.

In Madurai, party members conducted poojas at Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple and Subramanian Swamy temple at Thiruparankundram. In the evening, prayers were offered at churches and mosques.
