Officials of the district administration on Saturday recovered 3.16 acres of government land in Hemmigerepura, near Kengeri, that was encroached by a city-based ashram and leased out to a brick factory for the past 10 years.

The value of the recovered land is estimated to be around Rs. 20 crore. The officials have also seized a huge load of cement bricks, machinary and a truck.

According to the officials, management of Omkara Ashrama had encroached the land and even applied to the revenue department for grants. The revenue department had turned down the request and issued a notice to vacate the land. However, the management had leased it out to cement brick factory.
