Backstreet Boys set to begin Las Vegas residency

The band is following in the footsteps of Mariah Carey and Britney Spears in taking up residency in Las Vegas

The Backstreet Boys are set to follow in the footsteps of Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey and begin a Las Vegas residency.

The band's show Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life promises to be like the group's normal concert, but "on steroids", according to member Brian Littrell.

Littrell, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson will arrive at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip in March 2017.

Richardson said: "We're going to call the show Larger Than Life, and we're taking that theme and we're going to run with it."

Littrell added: "What can you expect? If you've ever been to a Backstreet Boys show... it's going to be that on steroids."

The band have sold more than 130 million records worldwide and are best known for hits Everybody (Backstreet's Back), I Want It That Way, As Long As You Love Me and Shape Of My Heart.

Carter said: "We're excited to bring our experience from being a touring act with all of our hits to Vegas, so that it becomes something that you'll never forget."

Tickets for the residency go on sale on October 1.
