NASHIK: Barnes School at Deolali Camp, which was shut since Wednesday after one of its employees committed suicide after being allegedly sacked, will re-open on Monday.
School management officials on Friday said they have informed the parents of its approximately 1,400 day scholars by sending messages to them.
Several workers of the school had gathered at the gate and did not allow the students and the staffers enter the institute since Wednesday after Chinnapaa Mandri (55) hanged himself to death.
Senior officials of the school run by Bombay Education Society (BES) said in view of the students' safety, they could not start the school.
On Thursday, vice-principal Keith Everett met the agitating workers. He said, "Local MP Hemant Godse visited the school on Friday and pledged that there would not be disruption in its functioning. The workers have also assured that they would stay away from the gate."
It was only after the MP's assurance that the officials sent messages to the students' parents about the school reopening from Monday.
Godse said on learning that the school was closed since the suicide, he visited the institute and spoke to the agitating workers and also the management of the institute.
In the meantime, a local court has sent principal Julian Luke in police remand till Monday. He was arrested on Wednesday by the Deolali Camp police for allegedly abetting the suicide.
