Karna Das rises with A New Hope

KATHMANDU: With A New Hope (Euta Naya Aasha), singer Karna Das is back in the Nepali music scene after 10 years. He had gone to the US and returned Nepal with his fifth solo album.

It was launched on September 23 at Hotel Annapurna, Durbar Marg by his mother Ratna Devi Das amidst the industry’s legendary, popular and renowned musicians and lyricists.

“This has given me enthusiasm and the stress of those 10 year has been flowed out. I have been cleared like the Seti River. So, I am happy today,” Jindagi ko ke Bharosa singer shared on the day of his album launch.

Euta Naya Aasha has 12 songs including four bonus tracks. Aafno Laagi, Timro Mero which is a duet with Anju Panta, Kasaile Sodhena, Phuleko, Phoolka Thunga, Saanta Mannko Talaauma and Yesto Thiyo Kathaa Euta among others are some of the songs. Karna, Sanju Thapa, Santosh Ramdaam, Sachin Singh, Raju Singh have tuned the songs, while Karna, Bibek Malla, Ranjana Thapa, Sanju, Raman Shrestha, Ramdaam, Chandra KC, Ganga Raj Mukarung, Uttam Bhaukaji, Dinesh Adhikari and Min B Bohara have penned the lyrics.

Karna added, “Many people have gone abroad and have not returned. But I have returned with hopes and I am going back to my old work.”

Karna Das became a household name with Jindagi ko ke Bharosa and carved a niche for himself. Now, in his second innings, he is back with the same familiar flavours.

Some are love songs while some are patriotic, Karna’s experience along with others’ stories. The album is a “melodious package. The songs are slow. If anyone is not feeling sleepy, one will definitely have sweet dreams”.
