Benagluru: It all started with the chemistry question paper being leaked not once but twice. Then came the announcement that NEET, and not CET, would be the test for selection. Students seeking medical seats have been through the wringer this year, and just when they thought they could settle into class, they're facing the prospect of another round of interviews.
Arun P, a second-year PU student from Mangaluru, said he has got a seat in a private medical college in Bengaluru and moved to the city a week ago.
"I have paid for a paying-guest accommodation. Now, if I do not get a seat in Bengaluru, I will have to move again," he said.
If counselling is conducted again, students from other states will have to come to Bengaluru again. However, some are happy with the SC decision despite the possibility of having to face more tests.
Suresh Kumar, the parent of a second-year PU student, said SC had made good decision because there are many flaws in the counselling conducted by private colleges. "This should have been done earlier, not after the entire seat selection process has been completed," he said.
Another student said: "The second PU chemistry exam was re-scheduled thrice and students appeared twice for the exam. We appeared for multiple entrance exams and SC scrapped it and allowed only NEET and CET. It's a lot of pressure to take."
