Kopardi rape-murder case: Marathas to take over the streets of Nashik in protest today

The stage is set for the Maratha Kranti Morcha in Nashik to be taken out in the city on Saturday, September 24, 2016.

While the morchas at different places in the state are getting huge response, it is expected that Nashik too will see unprecedented response of the Maratha community who is protesting against the case at Kopardi and strict punishment to the accused, reservations and other issues.

Starting from Tapovan the morcha will traverse about 5 kms through the city to reach Idgah grounds on Trimbak road. The morcha will be led by girl students in the front followed by students, women, men and political leaders.

A memorandum of demands will be submitted to the district collector.

The organizers have made arrangements for parking of vehicles coming from all over the district at seven different places around the city. These parking places were used during the Kumbhmela held in the city in the recent past and the same will be put to use. The participants have been directed to follow parking instructions and co-operate with the police and the volunteers. They have been asked to follow peace, restraint, cleanliness and self discipline during the morcha.

Arrangements for water medical aid, and ambulances have also been made, through out the route. The morcha is being supported by organizations including, the RPI Kawade group, OBC Mahasangh, Zep group, Yuva ekta, Shivaji Muslim Brigade and Muslim organisations who will also provide water to the participants at places.

The police is all set with increased bundobust in the city for Saturday. To regulate the crowd flow and the traffic management, some points, and roads have been declared as 'no vehicle or No entry zones'. The police bundobust will be in place from 6 am onwards.

The police shared that they met the organizers and their volunteers. Rehearsals of the police arrangements have been done, along with debriefing and traffic regulations have also been set in place.
