Fed up of poverty, Botad woman jumps into well with two daughters

A 27-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well taking along her two daughters in Tava Vavdi village near Sihore town of Botad district on Thursday evening.

RAJKOT: A 27-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well taking along her two daughters in Tava Vavdi village near Sihore town of Botad district on Thursday evening.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman Asmita Dodiya was extremely fed up of poverty. Her husband Vipul Dodiya works as a farm labourer, police said.
On Thursday, Asmita left the house taking her two daughters Drashti (7) and six-month-old Naviya.
Her husband tried to trace her but could not find them till late night.
In the morning, a farm owner spotted three bodies floating in his well and informed the police. Their bodies were fished out and sent for postmortem.
"It looks like the family is facing severe financial troubles. The woman was fed up of the poverty and took the drastic step," said SY Jhala, police sub inspector, Sihore police station.
Earlier this week, a 50-year-old woman, Bhanu Tota, committed suicide along her 15-year-old daughter Parul and son Jayesh (10).
Though they had had jumped two days ago, the bodies were found on Tuesday.
According to police, Bhanu had a quarrel with her husband Dinesh over household expenses on Sunday morning following which she had left the house with the kids and committed suicide.
