An employee of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKV), who was tested positive of dengue at a private hospital in Kakarmatta area, died on Thursday.

VARANASI: An employee of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKV), who was tested positive of dengue at a private hospital in Kakarmatta area, died on Thursday.
According to reports, KK Singh, an employee at general administration department of MGKV, was down with fever for past few days following which he was admitted at a private hospital in Kakarmatta. He was admitted as a suspected dengue patient a sharp decline in platelets was noticed.
Later, he tested positive of the disease and died during treatment on Thursday.
Chief medical officer, Dr VB Singh, however, denied the cause to be dengue and said that a team will be constituted to investigate the cause of the death. The patient's file has been summoned from the hospital to be studied by the CMO. Singh was tested positive in primary NS1 test and could have died of renal failure, informed his office.
As per the CMO office records, as many as 141 cases of dengue have been reported from Varanasi and its neighbouring districts so far. A total of 72 cases had been reported from urban (48) and rural (26) in Varanasi district. While 11 tested positive of dengue from rural, nine cases were confirmed in urban areas. As many as 10 cases were reported at various government and private hospitals, of which a 65-year old Shivkumar of Varanasi tested positive at Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) District Hospital on Friday.
Meanwhile, Sir Sunder Lal (SSL) hospital of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has reported three confirmed cases of dengue. While one Sanchit Burman of Varanasi was confirmed on September 19, Mahesh Soni and Sravan Tiwari of Jaunpur and Chandauli, respectively tested positive on September 20. One Kalyani Singh was discharged after treatment on September 21.
Chief medical superintendent of DDU district hospital, Dr SK Upadhyay said six suspected cases of dengue have been admitted at the isolation ward of hospital. All are suspected cases of dengue, he said, adding that the previous confirmed cases had been discharged after they recuperated.

According to in-charge at Sri Shiv Prasad Gupta (SSPG) Divisional Hospital, Dr SC Singh, two suspected cases of dengue have been admitted at the isolation ward while samples will be sent to BHU for confirmation through Elisa test.
Experts at Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital (GACH) at Rajghat have advised people to take Ayurvedic herbal formula 'Giloy Ghan Vati' that helps to elevate immunity.
A single tablet twice a day can be used as a preventive measure, informed GACH's senior medical officer, Vinay Mishra.
