Aubameyang tapped in after fine work by livewire Ousmane Dembele to give Thomas Tuchel’s side the lead on the stroke of half-time at the Signal Iduna Park.

Polish international right-back Lukasz Piszczek doubled Dortmund’s advantage early in the second half after Caglar Soyuncu had turned a Gonzalo Castro cutback into his path.

Maximilian Philipp got one back for the visitors with a good finish on the hour mark but Raphael Guerreiro, a second-half substitute for Mario Goetze, secured the points in stoppage time at the end of a fine move.

Dortmund, 5-1 winners at Wolfsburg in midweek, have won their last four matches in all competitions and scored 20 goals in the process since a 1-0 loss to RB Leipzig a fortnight ago.

They trail Bayern on goal difference before Carlo Ancelotti’s side visit winless Hamburg on Saturday bidding to maintain their perfect start to the season.

Cologne can also climb back up above Dortmund if they can inflict a first defeat on newly-promoted Leipzig on Sunday.

LIGUE 1

Ivory Coast defender Serge Aurier was sent off against his old club as Paris Saint-Germain slumped to a 2-0 defeat away at Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Friday.

Aurier was shown a second yellow card for conceding a penalty that Yann Bodiger converted early in the second half to put Toulouse in front at Le Stadium.

Jimmy Durmaz then secured the win for the home side late on as PSG suffered a second defeat in just seven league games this season to leave new coach Unai Emery facing more questions about his management.

The reigning champions took until the end of March to lose twice in the league last season but this loss followed a 3-1 reverse in Monaco last month and left Paris in third spot, a point behind Nice and Toulouse.

Nice go to Nancy on Sunday while Monaco, who host Angers on Saturday, and Bordeaux, who are at home to Caen, could both climb above PSG in the table over the course of the weekend.

Emery’s side travelled to south-western France fresh from two wins in a week in which they had scored nine goals and conceded none to seemingly kickstart their campaign.

French international winger Hatem Ben Arfa was again left out of the squad for a fourth straight game and there was no Marco Verratti, but Aurier returned after injury.

Edinson Cavani, who had scored five times in the last two matches, was twice brilliantly denied by Toulouse’s 17-year-old goalkeeper Alban Lafont in the first half before the game turned on an incident at the start of the second period.

Aurier, who had already been booked, was cautioned a second time for a foul on Ola Toivonen in the area and Bodiger sent Alphonse Areola the wrong way from the spot to open the scoring.

A young Toulouse side featured 19-year-old Clement Michelin starting a Ligue 1 game for the first time and 18-year-old loan striker Odsonne Edouard lining up against his parent club.

But they secured the points against the 10 men after a disastrous mistake by substitute Thiago Motta on 79 minutes as he gifted possession to Swedish international Durmaz, and he ran through to make it 2-0.

CHAMPIONSHIP

An early goal from Jordan Hugill was enough for Preston to secure a 1-0 victory over Wigan in a Lancashire derby at Deepdale.

Hugill gave the hosts the lead in the seventh minute as he inadvertently deflected Aiden McGeady’s strike past Wigan ‘keeper Adam Bogdan.

Wigan dominated possession from start to finish, but created very few chances for Will Grigg to find that elusive equaliser.

The three points moves the Lilywhites up to 18th, while Wigan, who have lost five in a row on the road, remain in the bottom three.

It was a third game in seven days for Preston, but it did not show as they flew out of the blocks and deservedly led after seven minutes as McGeady’s shot from 20 yards was deflected in off Hugill - the striker claiming the goal.

Wigan adapted well to going behind and missed a huge chance to equalise after 15 minutes when Jordi Gomez’s pinpoint cross found Grigg who headed over from four yards.

The pair combined again in the 40th minute, their roles reversed, as Grigg slipped in Gomez on the left edge of the area only for the Spaniard to slice his effort wide of the near post.

Just like the first half, it was Preston who came out the quickest in the second, as Alex Baptiste broke free of the Wigan defence inside the first minute but dragged an effort well wide from 18 yards.

Grigg then curled an effort from the edge of the area straight at Chris Maxwell, before Hugill found himself clean through on goal, and his right-footed strike was headed for the bottom corner before being superbly tipped wide by Bogdan as the game became a frantic end-to-end encounter.

Buoyed by Tuesday’s EFL Cup win over Bournemouth, North End had another chance to double their lead, but Tom Clarke could not keep a back-post header down from Paul Gallagher’s cross.

The introduction of David Perkins pushed Nathan Byrne forward and it almost paid instant dividends for Wigan.

Grigg’s cross found Byrne at the far post, whose first shot was saved by Maxwell before he brushed the outside of the post with the rebound.

And the visitors had further chances five minutes from time, with Gomez striking a 20-yard free-kick straight at Maxwell before Ben Pearson missed the chance to double the advantage at the other end - firing wide from 12 yards.

LA LIGA

Real Betis moved up to eighth place in the Spanish Liga standings with a 1-0 win over Malaga. 35-year-old former Spanish international Joaquin scored the only goal of the game, heading in Charly Musonda’s cross mid-way through the first half. Malaga pushed hard for an equaliser in the second half but Gus Poyet’s side held on for a deserved win.
