Guwahati: Woman ‘gangraped’ on KSR Bengaluru-New Tinsukia Express, one held

The woman, who hails from a village in Philobari police station area of Tinsukia district, works as a domestic help in Bengaluru and was coming home for a break.

New Tinsukia GRP office in-charge Dipak Tamuli said the woman had said in her complaint that she shifted to another coach after most passengers in the coach she was in alighted at New Dibrugarh.

“She said that an elderly co-passenger asked her to go to another coach because he was the only male passenger there. On moving to the next coach, she met three men and they started chatting. Later, one of the persons who escorted her to the toilet raped her. The two other men also raped her,” said Tamuli. The arrested accused has been identified as Prahlad Chhetri, who works in a restaurant in Bengaluru.

The officer said that Chhetri told them that he did not know much about the other accused as he met them on the train.
