A festival celebrating Indian and Portuguese culture will be held here soon. The event will include an exhibition by celebrated artist Deviprasad Rao, a fado singing competition, a film festival, music workshops and an evening of Indo-Portuguese cuisine. “The annual event is an effort to celebrate and appreciate the rich cultural flavours of the two nations,” said Rui Carvalho Baceira, Consul General of Portugal in Goa.

“Goa has assimilated the essence of both regions where people coexist in harmony and joy,” said Orty Soares, chairman of the executive committee planning the event.

The Semana Da Cultura Indo-Portuguesa (Goa) celebrations will kick off with an art exhibition titled ‘Lisbon Calling’ by Deviprasad Rao on Sunday. The exhibition has been curated by Nalini Elvino de Souza and will be open for viewing till Wednesday.

The fado singing and Portuguese poetry writing contests are scheduled to take place next month.

Chef Fabio Bernadino from Portugal will plan the special evening of Indo-Portuguese cuisine. He will host a masterclass on Portuguese cuisine for Goan chefs on November 17 . The event will see a host of Goan musicians perform through the evening.

Movie buffs can enjoy a selection of films from Lusophonian countries at the Lusofonia Film Festival between October 6 and 10.
