With two of her prominent projects — ‘Dana Kayonu’ and ‘Idolle Ramayana’ — releasing on the same day, actor Priyamani is both nervous and excited. She plays contrasting roles in the two films, though the common thread of a bold outlook binds them.

The actor is busy shuttling between her film shoots and commitments as a judge on reality television shows, both of which, she says, she thoroughly enjoys. Priyamani is someone who believes that 24 hours is just not enough to do the many things that she has wanted to do. In an interview with Nina C George, she talks about why she enjoys her fast-paced life.

What got you to sign ‘Idolle Ramayana’?

There are two things that impressed me about ‘Idolle Ramayana’. One is my character which I found very intriguing and secondly, this is the first time that I am working with Prakash Raj. He is directing and acting in the film. I have a lot of shades to my character and play a decisive role in bringing about a change in the character played by Prakash Raj.

You don’t seem to have a name for your character in ‘Idolle Ramayana’...

I don’t have a name in the movie which is another aspect that arouses a lot of curiosity.
I play the role of a young girl who is capable of adapting to any situation. She is quite unpredictable —  sometimes she is calm and at other times, even erupts like a volcano.

You play an aspiring police constable in ‘Dana Kayonu’. Tell us about it.

The project is a perfect blend of comedy and romance. This character does everything she can to be a police constable and in the process, even snubs the man who confesses his love for her. It has all the trappings of a typical Yogaraj Bhat film. I act opposite Duniya Vijay who, I must say, is a brilliant actor. It didn’t
take him too long to slip into the character and this inspired me to keep pace with him.

How do you feel with both ‘Dana Kayonu’ and ‘Idolle Ramayana’ releasing on the same day?

I’ve never had two films releasing on the same day. I am excited because I play contrasting characters in both the projects. Both the characters are extremely lovable and ones that people can easily relate to.

Your next project is a multi-starrer...

Yes. ‘Chowka’, which is the 50th film under the banner Dwarakish Chitra, is a multi-starrer. It’s a thriller and traces characters living in different time zones. I am paired with Diganth in the movie and portray the life of a couple living in the late 90s.
