Guv briefed on schemes for defence personnel

SRINAGAR: Brigadier Harcharan Singh (retd), Director, Sainik Welfare (DSW), Jammu, called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan here today.

Brigadier Harcharan Singh (retd), Director, Sainik Welfare (DSW), Jammu, called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan here today.

An official statement said the DSW briefed the Governor about the various ongoing schemes, including the preparation of new target-oriented programmes, for promoting the welfare of all serving personnel and ex-servicemen who belong to J&K.

The Governor reiterated the need for ensuring an institutionalised system, extending from the village to the state level, for hearing and promptly settling the grievances and problems faced by the serving and retired defence personnel, their families, widows and dependents. The Director was also advised to bring up a review of the rehabilitation colonies for defence personnel at the next meeting of the Rajya Sainik Board.
