BHOPAL: Police in Shivpuri are caught in a tricky situation after registering a crime that was actually committed 2 decades ago. Cops booked a government doctor for a crime initially committed by his father 20 years back. A Saharia tribal adopted a 12-year old boy in Bhind where his father, a Brahmin by caste was posted as Nayab tehesildar. Today, the boy is a government doctor posted in Shivpuri where he was booked for cheating by the district police on Thursday.
Dr Sunil is posted in district hospital since 2009.

About two months back, special task force of Gwalior received an anonymous mail as a complaint of the case. Investigations revealed that in 1996, Sarnam Sharma, then a Nayab tehesildar posted at Gohad tehsil of Bhind, had asked Babu Saharia to adopt his son. Overnight, a Brahmin boy became a tribal, police said. When he grew up, he took benefit of scheduled tribe quota to become a doctor, police said.
“After preliminary investigations we found that prima facie, the crime was committed and the case was registered, under different IPC sections for cheating, against Dr Sunil Adivasi posted in Gwalior”, said Sanjay Mishra investigating officer in Shivpuri.
When STF had tracked down Babu Saharia, police said, he had confirmed that he had signed on dotted lines after the Nayab tehesildar asked him to do so. “Sharma asked me to sign the documents so that his son would get government job”, he told STF.
Mishra said, “after preliminary information, we have started detailed probe. Later doctor’s father may also be made co accused.”
But the story did not end here.
On Thursday, Mishra also received a call of the doctor’s wife, also a Brahmin and resident of Bhopal. The doctor was married to her in 2009.
“His wife told me that a court in Gwalior has already heard this case. Now we will find out the state of this case in Gwalior. If the case is over than we will also wind up the investigations. If the probe is on, we will hand it over to the police in Gwalior,” Mishra said.
