Dharmapuri: A 41-year-old jeep driver was arrested on Friday for allegedly verbally abusing Dharmapuri district collector K Vivekanandan.
Police said a review meeting was held at the block development officer’s (BDO) office in Harur on Thursday evening. The district collector chaired the meeting. After the meeting, when the collector was about to return to Dharmapuri, K Ramajayam, a jeep driver at Morappur BDO office, allegedly verbally abused him.

“Ramajayam was in an inebriated condition when he used filthy words against the collector,” the Harur police said.
Police personnel on duty at the BDO office detained Ramajayam. On Friday, they registered a case and formally arrested him. He was remanded in judicial custody.
