Congress leader and Indian Premier League Chairman Rajeev Shukla has attacked Modi government's Pakistan policy.

"Government's Pakistan policy has failed completely. Narendra Modi first invited Nawaz Sharif for the oath taking ceremony, putting red carpet for him. Then he landed in Pakistan for the wedding of Sharif's grand daughter even before the invite reached him. Then they were sending loads of mangoes from here and getting sarees as return gifts from the other side of the border," said Rajeev Shukla.

GOVERNMENT MAKING SENSELESS COMMENTS

In an interview with India Today Shukla accused the BJP government of inaction against Pakistan and making "senseless" comments instead.

"With all this tamasha taking place, Pakistan thought that Indian government is a very weak one. They were regularly violating ceasefire, we didn't do anything. Situation in Kashmir worsened, still we didn't do anything. Now they are finally realising the mistakes committed in last two and a half years. They are still doing all verbal talk without taking any action," Shukla said.

Suggesting the future course of action to deal with the rising Pakistan-backed terrorist activities, Shukla said that Pakistan should be isolated in world community, just like it happened in 1971.

"They (Modi Government) should strictly isolate Pakistan in the United Nations and in the world community, just like Indira Gandhi did in 1971. They should create that kind of anti-Pak environment so that all countries turn against them and Pakistan is isolated. The world should know that the entire world is against Pakistan, just like Indira Gandhi did in 1971. Even Muslim countries supported Indira Gandhi then. That was the charisma and power of Indira Gandhi. They should adopt this policy instead of the present one which has failed miserably. Nothing will happen by simply making statements like dekh lenge, maar denge, etc. It won't work," Shukla said.

Reacting over the politicians suggesting to ban Pakistani artists and cricketers in India, Shukla asserted that such steps wouldn't be of any help in resolving the turbulent Indo-Pak relations.

"We are already not allowing Pakistan players in the IPL, just a handful of commentators and match officials come for the tournament. We will judge the situation when we organise the tournament next year. Also, I think that actors and actresses from Pakistan should not be banned in Bollywood. There are only few of them and are doing a good job. Instead of taking some strong diplomatic steps, we are making stupid statements," he said.
