Alexandra Sasnovich fails to reach Toray Pan Pacific Open semifinal

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – Two mistakes at the end of the match against Japan's Naomi Osaka prevented Alexandra Sasnovich of Belarus from reaching the Toray Pan Pacific Open semifinal in Tokyo, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian lost the game 3-6, 6-7 (6-8).

The Toray Pan Pacific Open has become the most successful for the Belarusian player this season. The World No.107 came through the qualifying round, defeating Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada (6-3, 6-1), Anastasia Rodionova of Australia (6-2, 6-3), and Miyu Kato of Japan (6-1, 6-4). In the main draw the Belarusian beat Belgium's Yanina Wickmayer 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 and 2016 US Open finalist Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 6-2.

Elsewhere, Olga Govortsova of Belarus and fellow Belarusian Vera Lapko will take on former world number one players Martina Hingis of Switzerland and Serbia's Jelena Jankovic in the Guangzhou Open doubles semifinal in China on 23 September.
