GORAKHPUR: Residents of Gorakhpur can now board daily flights to Kolkata and Delhi as
SpiceJet is set to start its operations in the city from October 4.
The company would be using the
air force airbase as a runway for its flights. SpiceJet has announced flights between Gorakhpur, Delhi and Kolkata. The Gorakhpur-Kolkata flight will land in Gorakhpur at 1.30 pm and take off from Gorakhpur for Kolkata at 2.45 pm.
For the
Delhi-Gorakhpur flight, the plane will take off from Gorakhpur at 1pm and land in Gorakhpur from Delhi at 2.10 pm on its return journey.
Although the air connectivity has increased in the city but airforce has showed its concern over a pile of garbage in Nandanagar, which is very close to the airbase. PRO of Airforce station, squadron leader Ranjit Kumar said, "Garbage accumulation and water logging are giving way to serious health hazards like encephalitis and dengue. It is attracting huge number of birds which hinders aircraft movement at the airbase."
