JODHPUR: People of Bhoopalgarh led by the Brahmin community have given a seven-day ultimatum to the district administration to arrest the killers of Ravindra Upadhyay, a 13-year-old boy who was found dead on the bank of the village pond in Kuri village last Friday. They took out a huge silent procession after holding a meeting at Rajiv Gandhi Square on Thursday.
Demanding the immediate arrest of the killers alleging the death of Upadhyay to be a murder, the villagers and the community people along with the family and relatives of the boy held a demonstration for five days refusing to conduct funeral of the body.

Finally, they agreed to conduct the funeral on Wednesday morning. But they refused to accept the post-mortem report terming it to be influenced and demanded a re-post-mortem from the magistrate, who refused to grant the permission.
Angry people, however, agreed for funeral but refused to hold their demonstration demanding a fair probe into the death, arrest of the accused and a CBI inquiry into the matter.
Upadhyay had gone missing from his house on Friday evening and was found along a village pond at the same night by his family members allegedly in badly injured state and bleeding.
The post-mortem report, however, termed drowning as the cause of death but the people alleged that the report was tampered under the pressure from some local politicians.
He said we have given a 7-day ultimatum for justice and have begun our movement from today. If we did not get justice, we would intensify our agitation until we get justice and the killers are arrested.
On the other hand, ASP Narpat Singh said the interrogation of three people, against whom the father of the boy had lodged a murder complaint, have not been found involved in the incident.
"But the police have been investigating the matter and if it was murder, no accused would be spared," he said, refuting the allegation that police have been working under pressure.
