EZULWINI – Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) Chairman Victor Gamedze has scrapped public relations officers’ (PROs) prizes from all competitions.

Gamedze was speaking during yesterday’s MTN League launch at Mahlalekhikhini House, the MTN Headquarters in Ezulwini. He said it was not the PLS or any of its sponsors’ duty to help PROs bring as many of their fans to the stadium.

The chairman was speaking after some of the PROs told MTN’s staffers in one of the widely listened Swaziland Broadcasting and Information Services (SBIS) Sport Show to consider sponsoring them as they travel long distances to the radio station to market games.

Gamedze said PROs were now demanding a lot and dropped the bombshell that his executive had scrapped the prizes. He told them that if they did not perform in their respective clubs in as far as bringing fans to stadiums, their clubs would chuck them out and go for capable individuals whom he claimed could do an even better duty than them.

“It is a privilege to get the airtime we are getting on radio and in other countries this is rare,” he said.
Royal Leopard’s Frank Hurube thanked Gamedze for calling them to order.
