PALANPUR: OBC leader Alpesh Thakor on Thursday demanded CID (crime) probe into the alleged suicide of Bhabhar head constable Nagji Thakore, who had ended his life accusing local politicians and bootleggers of harassment.
Thakor, who heads the Kshtriya Thakor Sena, addressed a rally in Bhabhar town and slammed police for not arresting politicians named in the complaint. "It is more than 22 days since Nagjibhai was found dead on the railway track.
If local police is not able to arrest the accused named in his suicide note, the probe should be handed over to the CID crime," Thakor said. He also threatened to gherao offices of Banaskantha SP and collector if the politicians are not arrested.
The constable had named Bhabhar municipality president Vaikunth Thakkar, vice president KV Rathod, former president Harilal Thakkar, PSI R G Chaudhary, bootleggers Sanjubha Rathod and his accomplice Harpalsinh Rathod in his suicide note. Thakore alleged he was facing threats to life from them for cracking down on liquor and gambling dens in the town. So far, police have only arrested Sanjubha.
