Eshwarappa confident of convincing Yeddyurappa

K.S. Eshwarappa, BJP Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, while stating that B.S. Yeddyurappa, State BJP president, was not fully aware of the purpose of launching Sangolli Rayanna Brigade, expressed the confidence of convincing Mr. Yeddyurappa on the issue very soon.

Responding to questions from presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Eshwarappa admitted that confusion still prevailed within the party over the purpose of the brigade being formed and Mr. Yeddyurappa instructing party leaders and workers not to associate with it without realising the purpose for which it was being launched. “Once they understand that the brigade was to mobilise the Dalits and backward classes to ensure that the BJP would come to power in the State after the next Assembly elections, all confusions would be cleared,” he said.

“In the previous elections to the Assembly, the BJP had split into three and several party candidates lost by narrow margin. The purpose of forming the brigade was to consolidate the vote base in support of the BJP and bring it back to power. I am confident that all confusions would be cleared very soon. Efforts are on to convince Mr. Yeddyurappa by senior party leaders and I am hopeful that he would be convinced [of the need for forming such a brigade],” he said and added that the proposal to form the brigade was well accepted by the religious heads of various mutts, party legislators/leaders and well-wishers.
