In this edition of the Dutram Report, Eric Dutram of Zacks Investment Research speaks with two of the key members of O’Shares Investments, Kevin O’Leary (Chairman) and Connor O’Brien (CEO/President), to get their thoughts on starting an ETF company and the current status of the investing world.

Kevin and Connor discuss why they felt there was a need for different products in the ETF world, and what their investing strategy focuses on. In particular, Kevin and Connor talk about the need for diversification and dividends, and why today’s market might make low volatility a great way to invest. This definitely rings true this year given how their flagship product—the O’Shares FTSE U.S. Quality Dividend ETF ( OUSA) – has performed over the past 52 weeks. The fund has easily beaten out the S&P 500, largely thanks to its better relative performance in sluggish market conditions.

But the interview goes beyond domestic investing, as the duo also talks about what is going in Europe, along with their OEUR fund, which takes a quality dividend approach to the European market. This then turns into a discussion on the merits of currency-hedged investing, and what investors can do to prepare their portfolios for any continued Brexit drama with a product like OEUH which hedges out currency risk, but still gives investors exposure to the broader European market.

At the end, Kevin also gives us a few of his key tips for coming on Shark Tank, and what people can do to prepare. He also talks about some characteristics of his best performing companies, as well as what will make him ‘eviscerate’ you on the show.
