JALANDHAR: As many as 21 youths have been arrested for opening fire on a police party at Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala today.

As many as 21 youths have been arrested for opening fire on a police party at Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala today. The youths exchanged fire with the police party when they were signalled to stop at a naka on Talwandi Chowk in Sultanpur.

The youths had been reportedly going to Sultanpur for a show of strength against a recent elected president of Guru Nanak Khalsa College. However, no one sustained any injury in the exchange of fire.

The arrested youths have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, Jagdeep Singh Sukhwinder, Jaswinderpal, Amritpal, Satnam Singh, Gursewak Singh, Gurlal, Tanvir, Yadwinder, Nishan, Amarjit, Gurprit, Amritpal, Pargat, Amandip, Harvinder, Yadvinder, Angrej and Surjit, all residents of Tarn Taran and Arvinder of Nurmahal.

The police also recovered two pistols, three revolvers, one .15 bore rifle and three double barrel guns.
