Hyderabad: Tech student fail to bag job, hangs herself at home

Based on a complaint from her father, a suspicious death case was registered.

Hyderabad: Depressed at the failure to clear job interviews and the ill health of her father, a 19-year-old engineering student committed suicide at Chilkalguda on Thursday. V. Prabandha hanged herself on the roof of her house.

Prabandha was studying in the first semester of fourth year computer science engineering at the Bhoj Reddy Engineering College for Women at Saidabad. Her father, V. Surender, a private sector employee, underwent two surgeries for fitting stents in his heart and is ill since then. Recently Prabandha attended three interviews for campus placements but failed. Since then she was depressed and could not perform well in examinations.

On Thursday at around 4 am, while her parents were asleep, Prabandha hanged herself. Her parents brought her down with the help of neighbours and rushed her to Gandhi Hospital where doctors declared her dead. She left a suicide note apologising to her parents and friends.

She said she was killing herself as she was unable to make her parents happy and that after her death they can survive on the income from the property they had. Based on a complaint from her father, a suspicious death case was registered. The body was handed over after post-mortem.
