Mile Square Theatre Presents DRACULA: THE JOURNAL OF JONATHAN HARKER

Mile Square Theatre, Hudson County's leading professional theatre, is proud to present the fourth production of its 2016 season, Dracula: The Journal of Jonathan Harker, a play by Jim Helsinger, from the novel Dracula, by Bram Stoker.

Sent to Castle Dracula to deliver deeds to the infamous Count, Jonathan Harker has no idea what he's getting himself into in this tour-de-force thrill ride. Once he arrives, Jonathan finds himself being held captive by the eerie and cryptic Count, discovering horrific sights behind some of the castle's closed doors. Only after he escapes is his worst fear confirmed: Count Dracula is an undead creature of the night. With the help of Van Helsing and other friends, Jonathan sets off on a mission to find and destroy the Count before he becomes more powerful than ever, risking his life to save the lives of those he loves. MST favorite John Keller stars in this tour-de-force solo performance.

Dracula: The Journal of Jonathan Harker runs October 13 through October 30 Thursday through Saturdays @ 8pm, and Sundays @ 3pm.

For MST, he has been in It's a Wonderful Life, Twelfth Night, and 7th Inning Stretch. International credits included the Balinese Arts Festival and upcoming at the Kampala International Theater Festival in Uganda. John also serves as Director of Education and Outreach for the socially engaged arts organization coLAB Arts based in New Jersey. He holds an M.F.A. in Acting from Rutgers University, where he is currently a member of the faculty and the Associate Program Coordinator. John is a proud member of Actors Equity Association.

Melissa Firlit (Director) has been awarded Best Director, Best Dramatic Play and Best Small Ensemble from the Denver Broadway World for her production of Red with Thingamajig Theatre Company at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts. Since her award winning direction of Red, Melissa's recent credits include: Always...Patsy Cline, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, A Few Good Men, Moon Over Buffalo, The Pillowman, The Secret Garden, A Picasso (Thingamajig Theatre Company), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (The Princeton Festival), Misterman (Thingamajig, The Dairy Center),BUBBA (FringeNYC, MST, Planet Connections, UnitedSolo Festival, Theatre Tuscaloosa), SIDD (Chicago Fringe Festival) and Bunting or Flags (New Light Theater Project), The Death of Evie Avery (FringeNYC), A Nasty Story (Fringe NYC), The Rise and Fall of Miles and Milo (FringeNYC), By The Light of the Silvery Moon (Midtown International Theater Festival). As part of her personal commitment to new work and collaborating with playwrights in process, Melissa dedicates a lot of her time to plays in various stages of development. Melissa teaches at the renowned McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, New Jersey, helms a Musical Theatre Bootcamp Program at The College of St. Rose and does workshops at colleges around the country. Her additional educational directing credits include: Trojan Women: A Love Story (Fort Lewis College), Stop Kiss (Wagner College) and Under Construction, Fabulation, Machinal, Solitary, boom, Any Place But Here, Lone Star and Lost Persons (Rutgers University). Melissa's training includes: MFA in Directing: Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts, BA in theater and a minor in music: The University of Hartford and The O'Neill National Theater Institute.
