Three more DYFI workers arrested in Kannur for hacking Sharath

The police got crucial evidences from the CCTV camera of a nearby house before nabbing Sreeraman.

Kannur: Police arrested three more DYFI local leaders in Kannur for hacking Sharath, a Yuva Morcha leader from Pallikkunnu. The 23-year-old youth was hacked by five DYFI local leaders on Monday night. The arrested are: Rajeesh (24), Chirakkal; Athma Kiran. P., near Kadalayi temple and Anand (31), Durga Road, Pallikkunnu. Azhikode DYFI block president Sreeraman Madathil of Onaparamba, Chirakkal was arrested on Wednesday. The fifth accused is yet to be traced.

According to police, Sreeraman, the first accused, brought Rajeesh and Atma Kiran to the spot with an intention to attack Sharath on Monday night. They attacked Sharath and his friend Pushparaj with swords and other deadly weapons even as the latter managed to escape and alert the residents. However, Sharath was badly wounded on his waist, shoulder and legs. He is now admitted in Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode.
